Dionne Will be performing, August 31, 2008

at the Escuelita's during the "Harmonica Sunbeam Teadance"

Singer/songwriter Dionne Blaize starting singing before she could talk. Her mother informed Dionne that she would imitate every song she sang to Dionne beginning at the age of 6 months old, and Dionne has been singing ever since! Dionne’s musical roots began in her church choir and also in the Performing Arts departments of her junior high and high school. During her teenage years, Dionne wrote, composed, and sang with continued enthusiasm. With Whitney Houston, Bob Marley, Patti Labelle, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin and Mariah Carey and Judy Boucher serving as her sources of inspiration, Dionne determined that she would one day have a career in music. She also hopes to realize her dream of collaborating with musical greats such as Timbaland, Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam, Sean Paul, Sizzla, Luciano, Beenie man, Buju Banton, Kanye West, Missy Elliot, and other talented musicians. After emigrating from the Caribbean island of Grenada, Dionne’s parents raised her and three siblings in Brooklyn, New York, an area whose cultural diversity continues to inspire her work. Her voice has often been compared to reggae artists Cynthia Schloss & Judy Boucher. Critics and enthusiastic listeners alike have commented on Dionne’s strong musicality and dedication to her craft. More important to Dionne however, is her desire to not just make great music, but to also have her music touch people's hearts.

Evoking the charismatic timbre of Michael Jackson in the early 80’s with a splash of present-day urban soul, Marck Angel is an artist that brings an urgent breath of fresh air to what is currently a very stark and interchangeable R&B lineup. Born and raised in the music capital of the world, New York, Marck Angel is a true music artist, whose soft, yet skilled vocal styling is only matched by his talent for songwriting and producing. And if that’s not enough, he’s got a potent dose of urban dance and choreography to add to his palatable agenda. Marck started dancing (on beat) at age 2, singing at 4, writing songs at 10 and producing them at 16, proof that true talent can’t be taught, but must be inbred. He simply intends to help fill a void in an industry where it’s extremely rare to find an artist that willingly applies himself to every facet of their craft… a true to form “music artist”. And in a time where male R&B artists seem to be cloned on a weekly basis, it’s nice to have a refreshing, different talent on the horizon.
